Does an electric tricycle need to change the gear oil?

Whether an electric tricycle needs to change the gear oil is not a fixed question, but depends on the specific configuration of the motor and the actual use condition. Taking the 650w gearless electric tricycle motor as an example, adding 100 to 120 ml of gear oil each time is enough to cope with the daily maintenance needs.

But for those electric tricycles equipped with gear transmissions, the treatment method is different. It is recommended to replace the gear oil for the first time after driving 500 kilometers, and perform routine maintenance every 2000 kilometers thereafter. The purpose of this is to ensure the smooth operation of the gears and prevent the iron filings that fall due to gear wear from mixing into the oil and damaging the gears. Therefore, even during the running-in period, the oil should be updated in time to ensure the normal operation of the motor and the whole vehicle.

However, for most tricycles, the gear structure is relatively simple and not very precise, so regular lubrication maintenance is sufficient. Replacing the gear oil is not mandatory. As long as the oil volume is sufficient, the basic lubrication requirements can be met regardless of the season. Of course, whether replacement is needed depends on the actual use of the vehicle and the manufacturer's guidance.
